How to Introduce Micro flora Into the Digestive Tract!
Keeping yourself healthy is so very important to have the best quality of life you can. It is hard to be as healthy as we can now because there are so many diseases and other health issues that are really sweeping the entire globe.
All of these new bacterium and viruses are becoming prominent, which makes it hard for people to stay healthy. In our body, our digestive system is basically the powerhouse.
You may think, “Well I thought the heart was the most important?”
Don’t get us wrong, the heart is extremely important. But if our digestive tract is not working, we are unable to perform various daily functions. Our digestive tract is needed for so many different things that sometimes people really overlook this.
If you have ever noticed, usually if you have a digestive system issue, the rest of your body seems off balance as well. This is because healthy digestion is very important for our body and we want people to realize this.
Also, many people do not understand that bacteria that are naturally found in our body are important as well. Some people do not realize that we even have bacteria in our body. We have millions of bacterium found in our body, in all various places.
These bacteria are extremely important for our health and this is another point that some people do not understand. They hear the word “bacteria” and automatically think of something bad. This is the purpose of this article, to explain some of the different types of bacteria to you and explain why they are so important in our body.
What is Bacteria?
A bacterium is a microorganism that can live in extreme places, such as the human body. Bacteria are usually extremely small and cannot be seen with the naked eye. In the laboratory, you can study bacteria using a microscope. The microscope gives us the ability to look at bacteria, or any other extremely small object.
Doctors have found that there are millions upon millions of these extremely small bacteria found in our body. These bacteria have many different types of functions in the body. They also are in different parts of our body for various different reasons. If one does not have these bacteria present in the body, specifically the digestive system, we cannot digest food.
These bacteria play an extremely large role of helping our body digest and break down the food we eat. They are present all over the digestive tract, starting in our mouth and ending at the anus.
The microorganisms that are found in our mouth have the role of helping to keep the mouth clean and free of plaque. They also help to begin the digestive process, by being present in our saliva. Saliva is what our mouth produces to begin mechanical digestion of food in the body.
Bacteria in the Stomach
There are also bacteria found in our stomach. These bacteria are extremely tough because our stomach is extremely acidic. This means that the bacteria found there can handle extremely harsh situations and very acidic conditions. The bacteria in our stomach help break down food, and help our body begin to digest nutrients. The nutrients our body is looking for are primarily carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. There are different bacteria in our body for different breakdowns.
For example, we have specific bacteria that have the function of breaking down food so we can get the protein out of it. These bacteria are very specific and they are necessary in our stomach for digestion. The bacteria in our stomach also make a protective lining inside. This is because these bacteria can handle the acidity, so they actually protect our tissues for this organ.
The Small Intestine
As you move further down the digestive tract, you will find bacteria in the small intestine. This is where a majority of digestion takes place in the body, since it is the longest area of the digestive tract. As the food, which we would now call bolus, travels through the small intestines, the bacteria present there are slowly breaking it down even further.
This helps our digestive system so it can preserve energy, since the bacteria are doing a lot of the work. In the large intestine, we usually end up doing last minute digestion. Not much digestion takes place in the large intestine.
But the large intestine turns our waste from liquid to solid. So the bacteria found in the digestive system have the job of removing water from our waste, which makes the waste go from liquid to solid form. The walls of the large intestine also help it absorb water to turn our waste from liquid to solid.
As you can see, the presence of microorganisms in the digestive tract is extremely important. Many people who end up developing digestive imbalances usually have low micro flora levels in their body.
Our body likes to have everything in what is called homeostasis. The body likes balance, and when we lose this balance the body ends up being able to be easily attacked. If you have a viral infection, chances are you may be losing your natural flora found in the digestive tract.
This is why side effects to the medications you take could be upset stomach or constipation. It is important to remember that if you take an antibiotic, you are also messing with your body’s homeostatic levels. The antibiotic kills off both food and bad bacteria in the body.
So taking a probiotic formula can really help you keep these microorganism levels at a good, natural level. This is important if you want to keep digestive imbalances at bay.
Find a probiotic that works for you, and you will see that these microorganisms found in the digestive tract are as important as you think.
Probiotics
Probiotics are another name for the beneficial bacteria in your body. Keeping healthy levels of these bacteria is important to good health. You can do this by eating more prebiotic foods or prebiotic supplements. Prebiotic foods and supplements help the good bacteria in your body to reproduce by giving them essential nutrients and fiber.
